Milford-based Scott Weis Band to open for Blues Traveler

Bushkill, PA—- Milford-based Scott Weis Band will open for Grammy-award winning quintet Blues Traveler at 7pm on Wednesday, August 16, at Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts. The event is part of an MLCPA’s Carload Concert, with admission just $20 a carload.

“We became aware of the Scott Weis Band from our friends at the Milford Music Festival,” said Richard T. Bryant, CEO. “We had such a terrific experience with Urbie Green opening for Dave Brubeck that we decided to expand the concept of involving musicians from the region right away.”

With John Popper on vocals and harmonica, Chan Kinchla on guitar, Tad Kinchla on bass, Ben Wilson on keyboards and Brendan Hill on drums, Blues Traveler has collected an avid following of jam-happy fans over the years. The very best way to experience the blues-rock quintet is live and loose — exactly the way they’ll be at MLCPA. Balancing virtuoso talent with impeccable songcraft, combining pop hooks with blues and rock-influences grooves, Blues Traveler’s live shows have won a reputation for explosive intensity and all-around good times. Their Grammy-crowned single “Run-Around” still holds the record for longest-charting single ever on the Billboard charts, and their worldwide breakout hit “Four” was certified six-times platinum. The band has a total of six gold and platinum releases.

The Scott Weis Band is comprised of Scott Weis - lead vocals, guitar and harmonica, Roger Voss on the drums, and bassist Robert Kopec. Over the past twenty years, each of these musicians has worked with many legends of all styles of music, ranging from Junior Wells and Soul System to Jerry Garcia, U2, and Randy Brecker. These three musicians, along with keyboardist Michael Fossa, create a unique blend of soul, blues, and rock that recently packed the main stage of the Milford Music Festival.

Mountain Laurel Center performances are held rain or shine. Theater doors will open ninety minutes before curtain. Admission to this event is $20 per carload (for vehicles with 4 wheels and no more than nine seats; larger passenger vans will be admitted for $40 per carload; tour buses with up to 50 seats will be admitted for $150). Seating is open and unreserved, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons are encouraged to purchase food and beverages at the center’s concession stands and picnic on the grounds (no tailgating or outside food/beverages allowed). Parking lots open at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale for cash at the gate for this show, or may be purchased in advance at the MLCPA Box Office, or through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (570) 693-4100 (a service fee applies to Ticketmaster purchases). The Mountain Laurel Center Box Office is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to curtain on all performance days.
